Description
Penn State Mont Alto places a high value on excellence in teaching among its faculty. Appropriately each year the campus recognizes one outstanding part-time/adjunct member of the faculty. (Please note that nominees may be given a copy of the nominations on their behalf.)
The Award
- $250 stipend
- Framed certificate
Eligibility
- Instructor must have taught at Penn State Mont Alto for at least 2 full semesters (not including the current semester) prior to being nominated.
- Instructor must have taught at least 2 classes at Penn State Mont Alto (not including the current semester) prior to being nominated.
- Instructor must be nominated by a student currently enrolled at Penn State Mont Alto.
Criteria for Judging
- Ability of the instructor to clarify difficult concepts.
- Instructor’s respect for the students as individuals.
- Instructor’s knowledge of the subject.
- Instructor’s preparation for class.
- Instructor’s skill in encouraging students to participate in discussion.
- Other strengths that set this instructor apart from other faculty.
Procedure
- Nominations accepted from any Mont Alto student.
- Nomination must include:
- Instructor’s qualifications for the award as they relate to the “Criteria for Judging”.
- Why student believes instructor is deserving of this teaching award.
- Completion of the nomination form by the nominator (online nomination form located at bottom of page).
Nomination Deadline
Nomination deadline for the 2024-2025 award season is March 28, 2025.
